RM of Willow Bunch’s story
The Rural Municipality of Willow Bunch No. 42 incorporated on November 21, 1912. It lies in the south central part of Saskatchewan and surrounds the town of Willow Bunch, where the RM office is located.
Within its boundaries are the organized hamlet of Scout Lake and a number of localities: Grand Valley, Gye, Lisieux, Little Woody, Twin Valley and St. Victor, which was dissolved as a village on February 26, 2003. The one heritage property in the RM is the Grand Valley Lutheran Church, built in 1916.
Jean Louis Legare Regional Park, southwest of the town of Willow Bunch in the Big Muddy Valley, was established in 1961. It is named for Jean-Louis Légaré, one of the original settlers of Willow Bunch. Today the park has a campground, a nine-hole golf course, a picnic area and hiking trails through the coulees and valleys.
The RM is also a part owner of the Fife Lake Railway. The Willow Bunch Airport, once located in the municipality, closed in 2009.
